Full-Time, Permanent – Markham, Ontario

We are a small established CPA firm in Markham seeking a full time Accounting Technician / Bookkeeper to join our team.

This position is well suited to someone looking for a reliable, long-term career in accounting, bookkeeping and public practice. A CPA designation is not required.

Responsibilities
Client bookkeeping and year-end bookkeeping cleanup
Bank and credit-card reconciliations
Preparation of GST/HST returns
Payroll and preparation of T4/T5 slips
Preparation of personal income tax returns
Assistance with compilation engagement working papers and financial statements
Assistance with corporate tax returns as experience develops
CRA correspondence and obtaining information from CRA
General office administration and support, including firm bookkeeping and other routine office matters

Qualifications
College diploma in Accounting, Business Accounting or a related program
Valuable understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping
Strong computer skills




Good written and verbal communication skills
Organized, accurate and dependable
Comfortable dealing with clients by telephone and in person
Willing to assist with general office administration as part of the position
Previous bookkeeping or public accounting experience is an asset, but recent accounting graduates will also be considered
