Support Assistant Role:

Do you have 8 hours a week to spend with someone and explore new interests and have fun?

A young, vibrant 27-year-old woman, who lives in Newcastle is looking for an energetic and dedicated Support Assistant to help her in exploring her community and living a full life.

The position is best suited for a Support Assistant who is looking for a flexible and reliable part time weekly work schedule, 2 days per week. In this role, you will support the young woman by assisting her with learning to cook, grocery shopping, money concepts, laundry and exploring her community to make connections.

The support schedule and planning are led by the woman and her family and is always evolving.

Exploring a person’s neighbourhood and community is an extremely key part of this role. You will be a part of helping this woman make connections in her community, opportunities to participate in interest-based activities and establishing valued roles with her peers. Learning how to take public transportation is expected as trust builds with the family.

this could be the role for you! The specific hours and day of the week can be scheduled in advance by mutual agreement with the family and woman.

Key Requirements:
Must have valid G Driver’s class license and have own vehicle for transportation to and from activities
Mileage will be paid when driving the woman
Completion of Vulnerable Sector Police check
2 employment/skilled references

Willingness to follow family directives
Active listening skills
Ability to be physically active – walks, light grocery shopping
Responsible in planning of weekly activities with follow through
Committed to weekly schedule – 8 hours per week

Hourly Pay: $23 per hour – 4-hour visits (2 days per week)
Bi-weekly payments
8 hours per week (could be additional hours)
Morning, afternoon or early evening
Family set up a weekly schedule to follow

Pay: $23.00 per hour
