OH&S; /Facilities Coordinator Role

Schools is seeking an individual to manage and coordinate all aspects of the school division's occupational health, safety compliance and risk management program.
OH&S; Responsibilities
- Ensure division compliance with the Alberta OHS Act, Regulation, and Code.
- Monitor regulatory changes and advise senior administration on required updates.
- Coordination of all matters related to Occupational Health and Safety at all school division sites and schools.
- Ensuring schools and division office adhere to Alberta OHS rules and safety standards
- Oversee hazard assessments, workplace inspections and safety controls
- Investigate workplace injuries, near-misses and file all reports
- Track and ensure all orientation and safety training for staff
- Facilitate and support the Division's joint school and site safety committees
- Assist in developing fire safety protocols/procedures, lockdown procedures and emergency evacuation plans/responses tailored to school layouts
Facilities Responsibilities
- Coordinate the management, distribution, and dispersal of surplus furniture and equipment across schools and Central Office.
- Support playground management processes, including inspections, audits, and documentation.
- Ensure emergency equipment (extinguishers, alarms, exits, signage, AEDs, EYE wash stations) is inspected and compliant.
- Respond to security system surveillance/alarms/callouts
Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Robust verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records
- Knowledge of division communities and the ability to read and interpret maps is considered an asset
- Familiarity with transportation and school software systems such as BusPlanner, SchoolMessenger, PowerSchool, or FileHold is an asset
- Experience with fleet coordination, facilities operations, or administrative support is considered an asset
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and general office technology
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the areas of workplace safety or risk management. Postsecondary education in a related field and/or trade qualification and certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) are assets.
First Aid
Certification, knowledge of Local/Provincial Codes and standards, and building maintenance standards are considered assets.
