Term of App't: September - December 2026 (11.50 hours per week)

Reporting to: Dean, Academics

Salary:

$50.07 - $56.75 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of advantages, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay. Employees in this division may elect to enrol in the College Pension Plan with contributions matched by the Employer.

Description:

Northern Lights College is seeking an individual with an exceptional ability to provide instruction for online students for our Education Assistant Certificate and Diploma. The successful candidate will deliver both EDAS 141A and EDAS 243. Note that delivery will be either through MS Teams or the D2L site.

EDAS 141A – Education Assistant Foundations is an introductory course that focuses on the roles and responsibilities of an education assistant, stressing that the assistant should be a member of the collaborative team in the classroom. An overview of basic principles and responsibilities will be provided. (Wed, 6:00 – 8:00pm)

EDAS 243 - Supporting Children's Mental Health: This course will introduce students to mental health issues experienced by children and adolescents, outlining various mental health disorders, diagnostic tools, and current interventions. The focus of the course will include exploration of mental health literacy, stigma, trauma informed practice,



and classroom support strategies for children and adolescents with mental health issues. (Asynchronous)

Qualifications

Required:

- Master's Degree in Education, or in a closely related field (or a combination of experience and education)
- Current, active teaching certification with the BC Teachers Regulation Branch
- 3 - 5 years of experience working in a Kindergarten to Grade 12 classroom as a teacher or Education Assistant
- Excellent communication and networking skills
- Working knowledge of the BC Education Plan
- A commitment to engaging diverse learners through various forms of distance delivery

Preferred:

- PhD in Education, or a closely related field.
- BC Campus Facilitating Online Learning (FLO) Workshop or equivalent
- Post-secondary instructional experience teaching a culturally diverse group of students
- BC Campus Facilitating Online Learning (FLO) Workshop, or equivalent
