SECTORAL ASSET MANAGEMENT
Specialists in Global Healthcare Investing
Operations Analyst
Montreal, Quebec — Full-time, on-site (5 days/week)
Note: the exact title and scope of responsibilities will be tailored to the successful candidate's experience and profile.
Sectoral Asset Management is a 100% employee-owned investment firm, exclusively focused on the global healthcare sector, with offices in Montreal, Geneva, and Hong Kong. Since 2000, we have managed public equity and venture capital strategies for institutions, private banks, and family offices around the world — helping shape the healthcare ecosystem of tomorrow through the smart allocation of capital across company stages, geographies, and sub-sectors.
Every investment we make, and every fund we run, is aimed at the same outcome: getting capital to the people and companies advancing human health. Operations is where that mission becomes real, day to day. When we settle a trade correctly, close a capital call on time, or get a report to an investor without a hitch, we free our investment teams to focus on what they do best — backing the science, technologies, and companies shaping the future of healthcare.
Join our Operations team and you become part of that chain, contributing indirectly but meaningfully to a healthier world.
The Role
We are looking for an Operations Analyst to join our Operations team and support the full breadth of our public equity and venture capital businesses. This is a broad, hands-on role in a small, entrepreneurial, and fast-moving environment, where you'll be trusted with real responsibility early, and where curiosity and a positive attitude go a long way. You'll work closely with the Head of Operations and the rest of the team, gaining exposure across fund administration, trading operations, investor onboarding and reporting,
and cross-functional projects.
We welcome candidates from a range of backgrounds within investment operations — whether your experience leans toward public markets, private equity/venture capital, fund administration, or a mix of the three. What matters most is your appetite to learn, your attention to detail, and your enthusiasm for a role that keeps changing.
What You'll Do
Fund & Portfolio Operations
- Perform cash, position, and trade reconciliations across public equity and venture capital funds, working with custodians, brokers, and fund administrators
- Support trade bookings, allocations, confirmations, and settlement follow-up
- Assist with NAV oversight, valuation support, and capital call / distribution calculations for our VC funds
- Investigate and help resolve operational breaks, discrepancies, and exceptions
Reporting
- Help prepare investor, board, and internal reporting packages (quarterly reports, capital account statements, performance metrics)
- Support the production of materials for partners' meetings, valuation meetings, and investment committee meetings
- Maintain accurate data across portfolio management, reporting, and investor systems
Investor support
- Support AML/KYC and onboarding processes for current investors and accounts
- Respond to ad-hoc investor and limited partner queries
- Manage InvestorVision investors’ reporting platform
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to ad-hoc projects such as new fund launches, system implementations, and process improvements
- Prepare occasional analyses and materials in support of the Business Development and Investment teams
- Take on new responsibilities as the team and business evolve
What We're Looking For
- A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field
- Roughly 2–3 years of experience in investment operations, fund administration, or a related function — exposure to both public equities and private equity/venture capital is an asset, but not a requirement
- Strong attention to detail and a comfort working with numbers and data-driven tasks
- Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with portfolio/fund administration systems is a plus
- An entrepreneurial mindset — you enjoy variety, take initiative, and don't wait to be told what to do next
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; French competency is a robust asset
- A positive, team-first attitude, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine desire to keep learning
Why Join Us
You'll join a small, cohesive team where your contributions are visible and valued from day one. You'll be exposed to both sides of our business — public and private healthcare investing — and gain a breadth of experience that's hard to find at a larger firm. And you'll be part of a mission that goes beyond the numbers: helping allocate capital toward the companies and innovations that improve healthcare outcomes worldwide.
This is a full-time, on-site role based at our Montreal office, five days a week — we believe our team, and the work we do together, is stronger in person.
