Job Overview

GeoMaple is looking for a motivated student interested in surveying, construction, engineering, or a related field to join our team as a Part time Surveying Trainee.

This is a hands-on training opportunity designed for someone who wants to develop practical surveying experience and learn from experienced professionals. The successful candidate will assist with field surveying activities at construction and project sites throughout Toronto and the GTA.

No extensive surveying experience is required. We are looking for someone dependable, willing to learn, comfortable working outdoors, and interested in building a future career in the surveying industry. Candidates who successfully complete the training and are a strong fit may be considered for continued or expanded employment with GeoMaple.

Responsibilities

● Assist surveyors with fieldwork at construction and project sites

● Learn to operate surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS units, and levels

● Help collect measurements and accurately record field data

● Assist with construction layout, topographical surveys, and as-built measurements

● Help organize survey records, field notes, and project data

● Follow instructions from experienced surveyors and project team members

● Maintain surveying equipment and keep work areas organized

● Follow all company and site safety requirements





● Travel to project sites throughout Toronto and the GTA as required

Qualifications

● Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a surveying, civil engineering, construction, geomatics, geography, or related program

● Located in Toronto or the Greater Toronto Area

● Available to work approximately 2–3 days per week

● Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn

● Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions

● Comfortable working outdoors and on active construction sites

● Able to work both independently and as part of a team

● Basic computer skills and good communication abilities

Assets The following are helpful but not required:

● Previous construction, surveying, or fieldwork experience

● Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, or similar software

● Knowledge of surveying equipment or data-collection methods

● Valid driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation
