About This Role

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established Toronto personal injury firm looking to add an associate to its litigation team. This is a strong fit for a lawyer who's built a solid base in PI litigation — plaintiff or defence side — and is ready to take on more ownership of files, more client contact, and more courtroom time. You'll be stepping into a busy, well-resourced practice with senior lawyers who are genuinely invested in mentoring the next generation of litigators. The caseload is varied and substantial, and there's real room to grow into more complex, higher-value matters over time.

What You'll Be Doing

- Running your own caseload of personal injury files from the intake stage through to resolution
- Evaluating new claims and shaping litigation strategy alongside clients
- Preparing pleadings, motions, affidavits, mediation memos, settlement offers, and client correspondence
- Representing clients at discoveries, mediations, pre-trials, and settlement meetings
- Appearing in court as matters require
- Handling negotiations with insurers and opposing counsel
- Partnering with senior counsel on the firm's larger and more complicated files
- Keeping clients in the loop at every stage of their case
- Digging into medical, financial, and employment records to build out liability and damages positions
- Liaising with medical experts and other outside professionals as files demand
- Staying on top of deadlines,

procedural rules, and limitation periods across your file load
- Pitching in on the team's broader growth as a practice group

What We're Looking For

- 2–5 years of hands-on personal injury litigation experience (plaintiff or defence)
- Good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Solid grasp of Ontario's civil litigation rules and PI-specific law
- A track record of advocating and negotiating effectively for clients
- Comfort running files with growing independence
- Sharp analytical instincts and sound judgment under pressure
- A client-first mindset and strong interpersonal skills
- Careful, organized work habits — the details matter in this practice area
- The ability to juggle a busy docket without losing quality
- A clear intent to build a career in this space, not just pass through it

What's on Offer

- Compensation that reflects the seniority and volume of the role
- A steady pipeline of substantive, well-developed files
- Direct, hands-on mentorship from experienced litigators
- A genuinely collaborative team, backed by solid support staff
- Regular exposure to discoveries, mediations, pre-trials, and motions
- A defined path toward more responsibility and seniority
- A culture that takes advocacy and client service seriously — without the ego
- A long runway with a firm that's already established itself in the Toronto market
