About the Client:

We are seeking a compassionate caregiver for a 63-year-old woman experiencing memory changes and cognitive challenges. She has lived a mostly healthy life but has recently developed delusions and hallucinations, believing neighbors are talking about her. Her memory difficulties have progressed over the past three years, and she now struggles with isolation as she has stopped driving and seeing friends.

She previously cared for her son with autism but has been alone during weekdays while her husband works. She speaks Spanish as her first language and has limited English proficiency due to her cognitive decline. She is independent with mobility and personal care but needs support with daily activities, companionship, and motivation to stay engaged.

Responsibilities:

- Provide companionship and emotional support to reduce isolation
- Assist with light housekeeping, cleaning, and laundry
- Prepare meals and ensure proper nutrition
- Provide medication reminders and ensure daily compliance
- Encourage and facilitate physical activity, including walks to nearby parks and outdoor exercise areas
- Motivate client to participate in community day programs
- Provide transportation to appointments, errands, and activities
- Help with grocery shopping and other errands
- Offer memory prompts and gentle redirection when needed
- Create a calm, supportive environment that respects her independence

What We're Looking For:

- Fluent Spanish speaker with clear English communication skills
- PSW certification with experience supporting clients with memory changes and cognitive challenges
- Patient, calm demeanor with ability to handle delusions and behavioral changes
- Strong interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation




- Ability to take initiative and communicate clearly with family
- Experience encouraging clients to engage in activities and social programs
- Respectful of client independence while providing necessary support

Schedule:

Starting with two visits per week on flexible days (Tuesday and Thursday preferred), from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Schedule may increase to four days per week for 2-3 hours daily as the relationship develops and client becomes comfortable. Weekday support is the priority as client is alone during the day while her husband works.

Client refused medical help for three years but is now willing. Awaiting geriatric psychiatrist appointment. Father manages medications but client needs daily supervision and encouragement to participate in activities.

Client previously attended day program but stopped going - may need caregiver to accompany and transition her to activities. Client has expressed interest in exercise and going to the gym. House requires organizational support as father works full-time and is overwhelmed.
