OCCASIONAL PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER The Niagara Peninsula Children’s Centre School Authority invites applications for the position of Occasional Personal Support Worker.
Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will possess a Personal Support Worker certificate. Additional training in First Aid, CPR, and Behavior Management Systems (BMS) is considered beneficial.
:
The Personal Support Worker, under the direction of the School Authority Principal, will provide personal care and service to children 4-21 years of age who have physical and/or communication disabilities. Specific duties include;
- Transfer and lift students, using appropriate and secure techniques and devices to allow for toileting, changing, repositions, and dressing as recommended by therapists.
- Assist students with mobility as recommended by the therapists and the operation of specialized equipment as required.
- Supports the implementation of Safety Plan and Positive Behavior Support Plan under the direction of the classroom Teacher and/or School Principal.
- Performs health procedures with training as required.
- Support with feeding, food preparation, modified feeding tools, modeling and monitoring for choking.
- Supports student behavior by promoting the development of appropriate social, communication and behavioral skills and expectations for students, including utilizing the strategies of BMS
- Assists with supervision on class trips, in the classroom, washrooms and hallways, in the yard, at lunch, receiving and delivering students to and from transportation.
- Assists with student safety issues including emergency evacuation, medical emergencies and mobility throughout the site.
- Participates as a member of the school collaborative team and maintains confidentiality.
- Implement infection control measures to maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Other duties assigned by the School Authority Principal which is related to the care, comfort and safety of children
Compensation
Compensation is based on an hourly rate of $27.79.
Start Date
Hiring for occasional/supply work for the 26/27 School Year. Hours of operation between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM
