Sturgeon Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, effective, and student-focused Principal to lead at Landing Trail School. This leadership role is ideal for an educational leader who is committed to fostering strong instructional practice, building positive relationships, and creating safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environments where students and staff thrive.

Landing Trail School, located in Gibbons, serves approximately 400 students from preschool to Grade 4. The school is known for its strong sense of community, focus on literacy and numeracy, and programming designed to respond to the needs of young learners. This includes LOGOS faith-based programming, BRIGHT Kindergarten Enrichment, and the new Bridges collaborative learning program.

Trail also has a strong tradition of bringing families and the broader community together through school-wide events and celebrations.

The successful candidate will build on Landing Trail’s strong community and culture while providing visible, collaborative instructional leadership. They will support continued growth in teaching and learning, support innovative and responsive programming, and strengthen the relationships with staff, students, and families that are central to the school’s success.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Provide strong instructional leadership with an unwavering commitment to the academic, social, and emotional success of all students
- Lead evidence-informed decision-making to support continuous school improvement, raising the bar for all learners while closing achievement gaps
- Foster a positive, inclusive school culture that supports student and staff well-being
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with staff, students, families, and the broader community
- Support high-quality teaching and learning through coaching,



supervision, and professional growth
- Champion inclusive education practices, including differentiated instruction, assessment, and support for diverse learning needs
- Lead school operations in alignment with Division policies, priorities, and Alberta Education requirements
- Promote innovation, strategic planning, and responsible resource management

What You Bring

- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or eligibility for certification
- Leadership Quality Standard (LQS) Certificate (required)
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a school-based role
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering student engagement, belonging, and meaningful learning experiences
- Master’s Degree, graduate coursework, or degree in Educational Leadership
- Robust instructional leadership and curriculum expertise
- Proven ability to lead school improvement through strategic planning and data-informed practices
- Effective communicator and relationship-builder
- Commitment to inclusive education and supporting students with diverse learning and behavioural needs
- Ability to cultivate a safe, caring, and respectful school environment
- Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Advanced digital literacy and comfort, leveraging technology to support learning
