ConstructionClock App

Winnipeg

Company Description

ConstructionClock is one of Manitoba’s fastest growing tech companies, building the world’s best time-tracking app for construction crews and un-desked teams. Our mission is to automate complicated tasks for the hardest working people in the world.

The Role

We’re hiring a Product Designer to join our product team and shape the future of the ConstructionClock experience. You’ll play a key, hands-on role in shaping the product, leading design from inception to delivery, and partnering closely with product, development, and leadership in translating business needs and user feedback into effective design solutions.

You’ll be designing for busy, non-technical users working in real-world environments, where speed, clarity, and well-designed solutions matter.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking extreme ownership of their work, blending strong UX thinking with high-quality visual design, and who thrives in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.

This is a full-time, in-office role based in Winnipeg, MB, with flexibility for some remote work.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Design ownership:
- Take end-to-end design ownership on meaningful product features — from concepting through polished, shipped execution.
- Contribute to our cross-platform design system in Figma — add and refine components, apply tokens consistently, and help keep documentation current across iOS, Android, and web.
- Create wireframes, flows, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs that are handoff-ready.
- Iterate on designs based on feedback, testing, and evolving product needs.
- Ensure design consistency across product and marketing touchpoints.
- Cross-functional partnership
- Partner with Product and Engineering to define problems, explore solutions, and ship impactful product work.
- Translate user needs, business goals,

and technical constraints into intuitive and elegant experiences.
- Help shape product direction in ambiguous areas — not just execute against defined requirements.
- Advocate for design quality and user experience across the organization.
- Research and voice:
- Use product and behavioural data to identify friction points and improve activation, engagement, and retention.
- Participate in customer research — interviews, diagnostic flows, field validation — and translate findings into design decisions.
- Contribute to voice and terminology consistency across product, marketing, and brand touchpoints
- Team partnerships:
- Collaborate closely with our design team on parallel workstreams — splitting scope, trading feedback, and raising the bar for each other through regular peer review.
- Contribute to major design initiatives (brand system, IA framework, platform tracks) in partnership with the Head of Design — you'll help execute and shape these.

What We’re Looking For

- Experience
- 3+ years of experience designing SaaS products, with a portfolio demonstrating SaaS work you've contributed to end-to-end — case studies that show the problem, what you owned, what shipped, and what you learned.
- Solid understanding of UX/UI principles, best practices, and product thinking.
- Core craft:
- Design systems literacy. You've worked inside a component-based design system in a real product environment and understand why systems matter.

- Native mobile design fluency. Comfortable with iOS (Human Interface Guidelines) and Android (Material 3) conventions, and able to design mobile-first with platform-appropriate patterns.
- High attention to detail across layout, typography, and interaction design.
- Strong copywriting / UX writing instinct. You understand that in a mobile-first, glance-able product, the words do a lot of the work.
- Research and problem-solving:
- Comfort participating in user research — interviews, diagnostic flows, field validation — and translating findings into design decisions.
- Ability to translate complex ideas into clear, user-friendly design solutions, including designing complex workflows for non-technical users.
- Experience working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where you help define the problem — not just the solution.
- Tools and workflows:
- Proficiency in up-to-date design tools, including Figma (advanced).
- Fluent with AI-augmented design workflows — using LLMs for research synthesis, copy iteration, spec generation, and rapid concepting. You should see AI as a force multiplier, not a curiosity.
- Collaboration:
- Comfortable giving and receiving thoughtful, constructive design feedback.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to take ownership of projects and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-Haves

- Experience designing for non-desk workers, field software, or trades/logistics/industrial products.
- Familiarity with brand systems and design system documentation workflows.
- Basic understanding of front-end development constraints.
- Comfort iterating quickly and adapting designs based on feedback, data, and company direction.
