About Kids’ Time Out
Kids’ Time Out Play Program is a non-profit child care program that has been serving families in the Cold Lake community since 1982. We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment where children can learn, explore, and grow through play.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Program Supervisor (Director) to lead our program, support our educators, and work alongside our Board of Directors.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education, confident leadership and organizational skills, and a genuine commitment to supporting children, families, and educators.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operation of the child care program in accordance with Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulations, KTO policies, and the program plan.
- Develop and manage staff schedules while maintaining required educator-to-child ratios.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and ongoing support to educators.
- Support staff development through coaching, feedback, training, and regular staff meetings.
- Monitor the quality of care and programming and implement improvements when needed.
- Maintain accurate program records, documentation, and licensing requirements.
- Support enrollment, family communication, and other administrative responsibilities.
- Build positive and professional relationships with children, families, educators, the Board of Directors, licensing representatives, and community partners.
- Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors by providing regular updates and supporting the implementation of program goals and decisions.
- Help organize staff meetings, professional development opportunities, family events, and community initiatives.
- Step into ratio and provide direct care and programming support when required.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and collaborative workplace culture.
Qualifications
- A valid Alberta Level 3 Early Childhood Educator certification is required.
- Previous leadership, supervisory,
or administrative experience within a child care or educational setting is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of child development, play-based learning, and best practices in early childhood education.
- Working knowledge of relevant child care legislation, licensing regulations, policies, and safety requirements.
- Strong leadership, organization, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, educators, and community partners.
- Ability to lead a team with professionalism, consistency, compassion, and accountability.
- Commitment to ongoing professional learning and development.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain it before beginning employment.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, completed no earlier than one week before the start of employment.
