Job Title: Project Assistant – South Markham Community Action Table

Contract Part Time Position (14 hours per week)

Contract Start date: August 31, 2026; Contract End Date: December 31, 2026

Reports to: Coordinator, South Markham Community Action Table

Who we are looking for:

The South Markham Community Action Table (SMCAT), co-led by ACSA and Senior Services Network (SSN), is seeking a dynamic and community-oriented individual to support the SMCAT Coordinator and Co-Leads with administrative, communications, outreach, and event-related activities.

The Project

Assistant will work closely with local residents, community organizations, and SMCAT partners to support the coordination and delivery of SMCAT initiatives, including communications, meeting and minute-taking support, event coordination, outreach, and other administrative tasks. The successful candidate will contribute to the broader work of the SMCAT and help strengthen collaboration and engagement across South Markham. About the role:

· Support the SMCAT Coordinator and Co-Leads with the coordination and delivery of SMCAT activities, initiatives, and priorities, including tracking timelines, action items, follow-ups, and deadlines.

· Provide administrative and coordination support, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, taking meeting minutes, maintaining records, and coordinating follow-up.

· Support SMCAT communications and outreach by developing written and visual content, social media,



newsletters, presentations, surveys, and other community-facing materials.

· Assist with planning and delivering community events, meetings, workshops, information sessions, and engagement activities, including logistics, promotion, registration, on-site support, and procurement of required materials and resources.

· Support the development and delivery of workshops, information sessions, and capacity-building opportunities for residents, Community Ambassadors, and community partners.

· Engage and build relationships with residents, community leaders, grassroots groups, community organizations, service providers, and other local stakeholders to strengthen connections, share information and resources, identify community needs and emerging opportunities, and support collaboration and meaningful participation.

· Maintain and update databases, contact lists, tracking tools, and other records related to residents, partners, stakeholders, and SMCAT activities.

· Support SMCAT research, data collection, evaluation, documentation, and reporting, including maintaining accurate records and tracking project activities and outcomes.

· Contribute to the broader work of the SMCAT and undertake other duties identified by ACSA, SSN, and the SMCAT that support its overall goals and priorities.

About you:

· Experience and/or education in Community Development or related field.

· Experience working or volunteering in a community-based or grassroots setting, particularly in South Markham or York Region, with experience engaging local residents, community groups, and diverse stakeholders.

· Community-minded, approachable, and passionate about supporting residents and strengthening local communities.

· Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills,



with the ability to engage effectively with diverse residents, community partners, and stakeholders.

· Comfortable creating and working with digital and communications tools, including Microsoft Office, Canva, social media, and virtual meeting platforms.

· Ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to changing community and project needs while also working collaboratively as part of a team.

· Comfortable supporting and/or facilitating meetings, events, workshops, and community engagement activities, including some evening and weekend work as required.

· Experience working or volunteering in a community-based setting, particularly in South Markham or York Region.

· Additional language skills, particularly Mandarin, Cantonese, Tamil, Urdu, or Punjabi, are an asset.

· Comfortable working in a mobile position across multiple locations within the South Markham community. Use of a car is an asset.

· Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. as required for project activities and events.

· Must provide an up-to-date vulnerable sector check.
