The opportunity
Momentum Infrastructure Solutions Inc. is seeking a senior field-based Railway Track Specialist to provide track inspections, technical oversight, constructability review and quality verification on railway assignments. The role is suited to a practical railway professional who can identify issues in the field, apply standards consistently and communicate clear corrective actions.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections, technical audits and quality audits of new, rehabilitated and existing railway track infrastructure.
- Verify track construction and maintenance activities against approved drawings, specifications, work plans, inspection and test plans and applicable railway standards.
- Provide technical oversight for rail, ties, fasteners, ballast, track geometry, turnouts, crossings, special trackwork, continuous welded rail and track/structure interfaces.
- Review work plans, methods, technical submissions and field changes for constructability, safety, access, sequence, operability and maintainability.
- Monitor installation, alignment, surfacing, welding, destressing and related field activities and coordinate specialist input where required.
- Identify defects, departures and non-conformances; document findings and recommend practical corrective or preventive action.
- Support pre-condition surveys, hold-point and witness-point inspections, in-service inspections, testing, commissioning, handback and Entry-Into-Service activities.
- Prepare timely, accurate field reports, photographs, deficiency lists, technical memoranda and closeout records.
- Coordinate with client representatives, contractors, flagging/track-protection personnel, designers, maintainers and other disciplines during field execution.
- Promote safe work in live rail environments and immediately escalate unsafe conditions, emerging asset risks and operational concerns.
Required qualifications and experience
- Minimum ten (10) years of direct railway track field experience involving construction, inspection, maintenance or rehabilitation of track infrastructure in operating rail corridors.
- Current Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) certification or equivalent qualifications in other jurisdictions is an asset.
- Current Track Inspection Guidelines (TIG) qualification or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret track drawings, specifications,
geometry information, work plans, inspection and test plans and railway standards.
- Strong knowledge of track components, construction tolerances, defects, special trackwork, continuous welded rail and field quality-control practices.
- Sound judgment and the confidence to identify non-compliant work, communicate requirements and follow deficiencies through resolution.
- Clear technical reporting and effective communication with field crews, contractors, designers, maintainers and client representatives.
- Valid Ontario driver's licence and ability to travel frequently to project sites throughout Southern Ontario.
Working conditions and assignment expectations
- This is a permanent full-time, project-based position with field assignments issued as required.
- The position requires regular work outdoors around heavy equipment and active railway operations, often while walking ballast and uneven terrain.
- Availability for nights, weekends, statutory holidays, emergency response as required.

Pay: $120,000.00-$148,000.00 per year
