THE ROLE
CFMWS employees make a real difference in the lives of our military community. The path to meaningful employment as a specialty instructor allows individuals to combine their passion with their desire to make a positive impact.
A recreation specialty instructor is a professional who possesses expertise in a specific area of recreation, such as arts and crafts, fitness, sports, music, or outdoor activities. These individuals are responsible for planning, organizing, and leading programs or classes related to their specialized field. Their primary role is to teach and inspire participants, helping them develop skills, explore new interests, and enjoy recreational activities.
Their goal is to create engaging and memorable experiences that promote well-being, personal growth,
and a sense of community among participants in their programs.
Qualifications Needed
Education, Certifications and Licenses An acceptable combination of education, training and experience will be considered
Current applicable specialty certification(s) by a provincial or nationally recognized certifying organization
Current CPR And Standard First Aid Qualifications
Current Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Operator Certificate
HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development Certification and Quest 2 certification, HIGH FIVE, as required
Experience In specific program area In teaching and leading recreation programs In planning and organizing recreation programming In monitoring and supervising groups of participants In ensuring safety protocols and procedures
Competencies
Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.
Language Requirements
Bilingual (English and French) Essential
Reading: None
Writing: None
Oral: Basic
