We are seeking a detailed-oriented masking Technician to join our nickel plating team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for cleaning, masking and de-masking customer parts. This role requires robust hand-eye coordination, proficiency with painting and cutting tools, and experience working within a manufacturing environment.
Duties
Apply tapes, plugs, caps, lacquers, or waxes to complex geometries based on technical blueprints or work instructions.
Read and interpret engineering drawings to identify "mask" vs. "plate" areas with high accuracy.
Clean and degrease parts prior to masking to ensure adhesives bond correctly and prevent contamination of the plating tanks.
Remove masking materials after the plating process and clean any residue without damaging the newly plated finish.
Use tools such as X-Acto knives, calipers, and templates to trim masking materials to exact specifications.
Correspond with the Quality department to conduct visual inspections to ensure masking integrity (no leaks or "bleeding") and verify that finished parts meet dimensional tolerances.
Qualifications
Proven experience in a manufacturing or assembly workplace
Excellent hand-eye coordination to perform precision masking
Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to maintenance tasks
Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
Robust problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Experience with painting or using cutting tools preferred
Ability to life upto 50 pounds
