Elevate earth-science collections at the Canadian Museum of Nature as an Assistant Collection Manager in Mineralogy. This permanent full time position, based in Gatineau, QC, calls for a candidate who is well-versed in mineralogy and possesses three years of relevant experience.
You will oversee collection care, data management, and contribute to digitization efforts. Engaging with the wider mineralogical community will also be key as you recommend acquisitions and maintain collection standards. Key Responsibilities:
Manage and enhance mineral, gem, and meteorite collections
Oversee data management for specimens and improvements
Provide expertise to clients,
supporting research inquiries
Assist with loans, outreach activities, and collaboration
Mentor students and volunteers within the department Requirements:
Bachelor’s in Science with a focus on Mineralogy
3 years’ experience in mineral collection management
Proficient in collection management systems
Robust communication skills in English; bilingualism is an asset
Familiarity with museum practices and health protocols This role empowers you to preserve and develop significant earth-science specimens at the museum.
