Context We are currently seeking an experienced Cable Design Lead to support the planning, design, and delivery of Light Rail Transit (LRT) projects across Canada.
Responsibilities Undertake cable design for an LRT project.
Qualifications Diploma or degree in Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
8+ years’ experience designing cable containment (trays, conduits, duct banks) for rail/transit or industrial projects.
Skilled Engineer (P.Eng) or Certified Engineering Technologist with significant experience selecting, installing, and testing cables for rail transit systems.
Knowledge of containment / route design for major infrastructure projects.
Understanding of routing constraints, constructability, maintainability, and separation requirements for power, signalling, and communications cables.
Experience coordinating with civil, structural, architectural, and systems teams.

NEMA VE 1 – Metal Cable Tray Systems
Fire resistance & smoke propagation: CAN/ULC‑S139, UL 2196, NFPA 130
Rail‑specific EMC, safety & communication integrity: EN 50119, EN 50121, EN 50122, EN 50155, EN 50159
Telecom structured cabling: TIA‑568, TIA‑598, BICSI
Grounding, bonding, stray current standards: IEEE 80, EN 50162, NACE SP0169
TPSS & OCS DC traction power cable standards: IEEE 1653 series, AREMA
Preference for Light Rail Transit (LRT) experience. Heavy rail and High‑Speed rail experience is advantageous.
