Job Description
Midland Courier is currently seeking a Straight Truck Driver Owner Operator based in Ottawa, ON. The selected candidate will be a reliable person with a strong work ethic, great and positive attitude and exceptional customer service skills.

In this role, you will handle the loading and unloading of shipments, verify delivery accuracy, and ensure all deliveries are completed in accordance with company procedures. You will also be responsible for maintaining the vehicle in a safe and clean operating condition and adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.

Work Schedule
Monday to Friday, with occasional Monday shifts as required. Start and end times may vary based on operational needs. Candidates must be available to start as early as 7:00 a.m. and work until as late as 7:00 p.m. Please note that occasional Monday shifts may be scheduled as a day off.

What We Offer

Competitive hourly rate $52.31

Excess KM supplement $0.25/km for over 161 total kms/day on normal delivery route

Fuel at authorized company fuel stops charged at $0.408 per gasoline or diesel unit

Uniform allowance $500 per unit, per year

$200 safety bonus per quarter if qualified

Responsibilities

Follow pickup and delivery procedures





Load and unload the straight truck properly and safely to avoid damaging packages

Accurately process daily pickup and delivery records while ensuring timely deliveries

Maintain company equipment standards

Listen to and communicate efficiently with customers

Drive and use equipment (hand cart) while following safety procedures and traffic laws

Work in accordance with safety regulations, company rules and procedures

Report any incident, accident, injury, damage

Scheduled start and end times may vary depending on business needs

Qualifications

Education required: High School or GED

Class G driver’s license with a minimum of 2 years’ safe courier experience required

Clean driver’s abstract and criminal search

Must have a reliable 3-ton straight truck equipped with a rear lift gate and heater/reefer unit and be no more than eight years old

Truck should be in good condition (maintenance checkups)

Good communication skills

Able to work in a fast-paced workplace

Able to lift up to 50 lbs using proper equipment

Excellent work ethic and reliability
