Custodian

Term: Permanent Part-time; 10 – 15 hrs/wk (Monday – Friday 2 hrs/night)

Salary Range: $20.00 – $25.00/hr

Position Objective

The custodian is responsible for performing custodial duties, minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that Zhiibaahaasing First Nation’s Band Office and complex is maintained in a healthy, secure and sanitary manner. The custodian will be responsible for cleaning assigned areas by washing furnishings, floors and equipment with special cleaning solutions and disinfectants.

Specific Responsibilities
Perform general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting and vacuuming
Monthly deep cleaning
Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms and other common areas
Cleaning of kitchen
Empty trash and ensure proper disposal of waste
Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies
Report maintenance issues or repairs needed
Follow safety procedures and guidelines when handling cleaning chemicals
Help create a clean and welcoming environment for all staff and visitors
Ability to work independently
Replenish toilet paper and soap as needed
Maintain safe and clear entrances, walkways and emergency exits




Report safety hazards or potential risks to the supervisor immediately
Perform deep cleans after events
Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request replacements when needed
Deep cleaning of offices, including the movement of desks and furniture
Perform periodic floor waxing
Assist with the organization and maintenance of the bands office’s organizational structure
Identify and establish suitable storage locations for misplaced or unassigned items
The Band Office requires cleaning from Monday to Friday, with additional hours allocated for cleaning the Band Complex
Other duties

Qualifications
Previous experience in general cleaning and building maintenance
Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment
Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and procedures
WHMIS considered a robust asset
Solid attention to details and time management skills

Working Conditions
This role is performed by using physical labour such as pushing, lifting and carrying
Ability to life 30 pounds
