Your Role in Our Journey As our Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring we always have a clear understanding of how our business is performing and what we need to do next. Robust accounting is the foundation of this role, and it reaches well beyond the books. You will own the financial engine of the business, strengthen our financial operating systems, improve reporting and visibility, and help our leadership team make data-informed and timely decisions with greater confidence. You will be reporting to the Studio President. You will work closely with our President and VP Operations, who will retain ultimate accountability for business performance while relying on you to manage, improve, and continuously evolve the systems and processes that support it.
What You Will Be Doing:
Lead the day-to-day financial operations of the business, including:
Month-end close and financial reporting
Accounts receivable and collections
Accounts payable and vendor management
Payroll preparation and review
Cash flow forecasting and management
Financial controls and compliance
Tax filing and compliance
Manage closely our external bookkeeper and liaise with our accounting, tax, and audit partners where relevant.
Support the leadership team with monthly, quarterly and annual budgeting
Business Performance & Insight Help leadership understand how the business is performing by:
Building and maintaining meaningful financial data dashboards and reporting
Tracking utilization and capacity across the business
Monitoring project and service line profitability
Identifying trends, opportunities, and risks




Supporting pricing and margin analysis
Translating financial and operational data into actionable insights
Own and continuously improve the systems that support the financial operations of the business, including: Financial reporting and dashboard tools
Increasing visibility across projects, contracts, and financial performance
Ensuring data integrity across systems
Strategic Partnership Partner with the leadership team to:
Support annual planning and forecasting
Model growth scenarios and investment decisions
Improve operational visibility and accountability
Build scalable infrastructure for future growth
Strengthen the financial health of the business
Who You Are You are an entrepreneurial operator who enjoys building systems, improving processes, and turning data into practical business insight. You are equally comfortable reconciling an account, mapping a workflow, building a dashboard, implementing a new tool, or helping a leader understand the story behind the data. You thrive in growing organizations where people wear multiple hats, where initiative is valued, and where better systems create more space for great work. You have:
7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including full-cycle accounting and financial reporting, with time in a senior or leadership capacity
Working knowledge of accounting standards (ASPE), internal controls, and statutory reporting requirements
Experience in a skilled services environment
Strong understanding of project-based and utilization-driven business models
Experience managing cash flow, forecasting, and financial reporting
Experience working with external accountants, auditors, and advisors
Robust systems and technology aptitude
Ability to evaluate tools, improve workflows, and turn fragmented information into reliable reporting
Advanced reporting capabilities
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial audiences
A CPA (or equivalent) designation is strongly preferred.



Bonus points if you also have experience with: Power BI or similar visualization tools
Accounting software such as Xero or Quickbooks
CRM and business systems integration
Scaling a growing professional services business

What Success Looks Like Within your first year:
Month-end reporting is delivered within 2–5 business days
Cash flow visibility is reliable and proactive
Invoicing and rebillables are issued within 2–3 weeks, not months
Leadership has real-time visibility into business performance
Utilization and profitability reporting are trusted and actionable
Key operational processes are simpler, faster, and more scalable
The President and VP Operations spend less time gathering information and more time acting on it
You are viewed as a trusted partner in helping The Coaching Studio grow
