Airswift is seeking a Project Cost Controller to work with one of our O&G; clients in Calgary, AB on a 1-year contact role.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership:
Act as a primary point of contact for cost-control matters
Develop and implement cost control strategies, processes, and tools to support turnaround objectives aligned with Pembina standards.
Monitor the overall cost control performance and provide coaching, training, and support as needed.
Cost Management and Reporting:
Support preparation and management of project budgets, ensuring alignment with corporate and project objectives.
Review and support development of budgets, WBS, AFE submissions, and SAP uploads to ensure alignment with Pembina Standards.
Ensure accurate and timely budget forecasting, including the identification of risks and opportunities.
Review and validate daily cost tracking updates, forecasts, and variance.
Prepare high-level cost reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders, summarizing key metrics, risks, and recommendations.
Risk Management and Decision Support:
Identify and support mitigation of cost-related risks, including scope changes, PO commitments, and vendor performance issues.
Provide decision support to the Project Manager and turnaround leadership team by analyzing cost trends, variances, and forecasts.
Ensure project changes are incorporated into project forecasts and align with project objectives and budgets.
Process Improvement and Governance:
Ensure adherence to Pembina’s cost control processes, policies, and standards.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cost control processes, tools, and reporting.
Collaborate with the project team to explore opportunities for automation and integration of tools (e.g., Prism, SAP, SharePoint).
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with planners, supply chain, and other project team members to ensure cost control processes are integrated into overall project planning and execution.
Support the Project Manager in stakeholder engagement and communication.
Key Tasks:
AFE, CEST, and WBS management
Review Budget CEST and ensure compliance with Pembina requirements and standards
Ensure the WBS is detailed and aligned with the scope of work, enabling accurate cost tracking and reporting at all levels.
Develop a robust cost coding structure that aligns with the WBS, SAP, and other systems (as required) to ensure consistency in tracking and reporting.
AFE Supplement support as required
Cost Reports
Daily reporting on overall project costs
Communication of key trends, risks, and opportunities
Review of daily burn rates and progress achieved
Spend Profiles
Forecast remaining spend
Monitor purchase orders, contracts, and other commitments to ensure they align with the budget and are accurately reflected in forecasts.
Ensure ETC and EAC are communicated and updated
Project Change Management, inclusive of supplement support
Identify key trends, risks, and opportunities based on found work
Align PO changes with WBS project forecast and budgetVariance analysis (cost and progress impacts)
Monitor trends in scope, labor, and material costs to identify potential overruns early and take corrective action.
KPI tracking
Use EVM techniques to measure project performance by comparing actual costs, planned costs, and earned value.
