Job details
We are excited to announce the establishment of a new Integrations Team within Allstate Canada (ACG) with focus on improving and modernizing the state of ACG integrations. We are looking for an experienced Product Engineering (Integration Java Developer) to play a key role within this global team which will comprise members from ACG, Allstate Northern Ireland (ANI), and Allstate India Private Limited (AIPL).

Accountabilities

Design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of organizational level APIs and Microservices using REST based methods

Design, development,



testing and deployment using middleware systems (i.e. using integration tools and deployment of jar on containers)

Understanding the technical non‑functional requirements and translating them into an API design

API documentation using ACG standard tools

Leverage secure API standards to provide the appropriate level of security

Support dev, testing and production APIs

Use and promote common development tools and practices within the team

General support of fully integrated, highly available production integration environments

Analysis of information systems processes, monitoring of key performance metrics and creation of standard performance dashboards/reports

As a senior team member, enhance the Integration team accomplishments and competence by answering technical and procedural questions, teaching improved processes and providing mentorship for less experienced team members

Conduct design and code reviews to ensure consistent adherence to standards and to make recommendations where necessary

Delivery of high‑quality documentation as required

Effective communication with teammates, business stakeholders and other technology teams

Work effectively as part of a distributed team within agile delivery frameworks

Qualifications

A minimum of 6‑8 years’ experience designing, documenting, developing, testing, deploying and maintaining Web APIs using Java/Spring.

Solid knowledge of integration design patterns, and ability to properly document the design

Experience working in Windows or Linux environments

Experience with common development tools and practices (e.g. Visual Studio, IntelliJ, JUnit, GitHub, Jenkins)

Experience with transforming messages (i.e. XML to REST JSON)

Experience with developing and designing high performance APIs

Experience with documenting interfaces (i.e. swagger, interface control documents, nonfunctional requirements such as volumetric)

Working knowledge of RESTful software design practices.

Working knowledge in RESTful API design and Architecture

Experience with message transformation, orchestration and batch

Experience with API performance management tools





Experience working in Agile (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, XP) environments

Ability to perform basic database development and query (i.e. SQL)

Good understanding of CICD architecture and its pipeline models.

Positive understanding of CICD tools

Should have good understanding of any logging and monitoring tools and its integration (ex. Splunk, IRIS, DataDog, etc.)

Knowledge on TDD, secure coding practices

Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and accountability in a professional work environment

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Bonus qualifications

Experience with API Gateway tools such as Datapower would be an asset

Experience with API transformation and orchestration tools would be an asset (Talend or Kafka or Tibco)

Understanding microservice architectural approach in designing of distributed systems

Experience with JavaScript or Python

Experience with relational or NoSQL databases (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB) and in‑memory caching solutions (e.g. Redis, Pivotal Cloud Cache)

Experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) and related data management services (e.g. MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL)

Prior Experience with containers such as PCF and Docker would be an asset

Prior experience in migration/modernization project is an asset

Compensation
Expected compensation for this role ranges from $80,900.00 - $110,000.00 annually. Actual salary offered to successful candidates will vary based on their skills and experience.
