We are hiring a full‑time Sous Chef for the Teraaanga Commons Dining Hall on the Carleton University campus. As a Sous Chef II you will collaborate daily with the management team, report to the Executive Sous Chefs, oversee all kitchen staff, and provide culinary vision and leadership in a high‑volume environment.

About The Job
Oversee and take part in food production for the operation
Provide high quality food in a professional and efficient manner
Resolve customer concerns in a timely and courteous manner
Respond to customer inquiries regarding menu item preparation, including dietary restrictions and allergies
Develop and motivate team members by providing culinary leadership and training
Responsible for performance management and incident reporting
Manage and task culinary staff while maintaining accountability and fostering an engaging culture
Ensure a clean, safe and healthy work environment and comply with food safety regulations
Participate in menu planning, including forecasting, ordering and execution
Control inventories by closely monitoring food waste and managing planned usage
Oversee labour schedules in a unionised environment
Ensure adherence to all of Aramark policies and procedures
May perform other duties as required
About You
Multiple years in a supervisory role within the culinary field
Professional culinary training is an asset
Red‑Seal certification is an asset
Passion for food and hospitality
Excellent people‑management skills; experience training and supervising a team of 10+ culinary staff per shift
Working knowledge and training on all health & safety standards and sanitation standards (Food Safe, GHS, Health and Safety policies, food‑handling techniques)
The selected candidate will need to complete and successfully pass a criminal background check.
