Responsibilities
The Monitor is responsible for supervising family visits at the Family Learning Place in a safe, culturally respectful, and trauma‑informed manner. The role ensures the wellbeing of children during visits, supports positive family interactions, and documents observations accurately for internal records and ministry reporting.
Qualifications
Minimum Grade 12; post‑secondary education in Human Services, Youth Care, Social Work, Indigenous Studies, or related field is an asset.
Experience working with children, families, or in a human services environment.
Working knowledge of cognitive disabilities (FASD, ABI, developmental delays) and ability to support clients impacted by intergenerational trauma, addictions, and housing instability.
Awareness of mental health, domestic violence, and community barriers affecting adults with complex needs,
with capacity to navigate healthcare, justice, housing, and social service systems on behalf of clients.
Clear and respectful communication skills for engaging clients, families, cultural supports, staff, and community partners.
Ability to respond to crises with calm de‑escalation, implement safety planning, and apply solution‑focused problem solving in high‑stress environments.
Robust organizational skills with accuracy in documentation and reporting, proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management databases.
Provide a Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check.
Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence and reliable insured vehicle.
