EA SPORTS FC Environment Artist (Burnaby, ON)
As a member of the EA SPORTS FC Art team, you will help create engaging, immersive worlds for our flagship football games. You will collaborate with internal and external artists, Art Direction, and Environment Leads to design and develop setting content that meets our high visual and gameplay standards.
This role is based in our Burnaby office and requires onsite presence from Tuesday to Thursday. It starts as a 12‑month contract with the possibility of extended employment.
Your Responsibilities
Produce high‑quality benchmark content, ranging from individual assets to full levels, sets, stadiums, arenas, and complex worlds.
Design and maintain schematic and logic‑based hook‑ups for level environments.
Dress locations with depth and storytelling, going beyond immediate gameplay needs.
Translate concept art, reference images, and style guides into efficient asset lists, optimizing reuse and modular construction.
Participate in level building from initial grey‑block layout through to final assets.
Break down tasks, assemble reference material, and oversee the work of internal and external artists.
Identify workflow and documentation issues, troubleshoot, and create effective solutions.
Collaborate with other Artists, Tech Artists, and Leads.
Integrate assets into the game, ensuring seamless fit with design and style guidelines.
Your Qualifications
3 or more years of production experience creating assets and overseeing complete levels.
Expert knowledge of Maya or equivalent 3D modeling software.
Solid hard‑surface, architecture, and/or organic asset creation skills.
Methodical work flow from grey‑block to final assets, iterating with low‑fidelity content to refine approaches.
Strong sense of proportion, scene composition, and lighting.
Proven ability to assess scope, estimate accurately,
and deliver on time and to quality.
Experience with game engines such as Unreal, Frostbite, or Unity.
Collaborative experience working with designers, engineers, and tech artists to evolve workflows and pipelines.
High‑fidelity modeling and painting skills using physically‑based 3D paint software (ideally Substance Painter).
Optional: photogrammetry, ZBrush, Substance Designer, and outsourcing vendor experience.
Portfolio Requirements
Examples of assets you created or owned from start to finish.
Sets, assets, and environments that demonstrate composition, architectural construction, material properties, and organic wear and tear.
High‑fidelity models painted with 3D paint software such as Substance Painter.
Pay Transparency – North America
British Columbia (depending on location e.g., Vancouver vs. Victoria): $92,900 – $129,200 CAD
Compensation And Benefits
Pay offered will be based on relevant business and candidate factors such as education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and geographic location. Additional benefits are provided at the employee’s locale.
