Role Description The Safety and Compliance Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety and compliance programs that align with transportation regulations in Canada and the USA. Day-to-day tasks include conducting safety audits and inspections, reviewing driver logs and vehicle maintenance records, and ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.

The Safety and Compliance Manager will investigate incidents, coordinate corrective actions, maintain compliance documentation, and prepare reports for internal leadership and external regulatory bodies. The role also involves training drivers and staff on safety procedures, promoting a culture of safety, and continuously improving compliance processes to support secure and efficient operations.

Qualifications





- Robust knowledge of transportation safety regulations and compliance requirements in Canada and the USA, including hours-of-service, vehicle safety standards, and workplace health and safety.
- Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs, policies, and procedures within a transportation or logistics environment.
- Ability to conduct safety audits, inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments, and to recommend practical corrective actions.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate compliance records, preparing regulatory reports, and using relevant software for documentation and data analysis.
- Effective communication and training skills, with the ability to present safety information clearly to drivers, operations staff, and leadership.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on safety, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
- Previous experience in trucking, long-haul transport, or logistics is an asset; familiarity with cross-border operations between Canada and the USA is beneficial.
- Post-secondary education in occupational health and safety, transportation, logistics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Skilled safety certifications (e.g., CRSP or equivalent) are an asset.
