The KPMG Business School (KBS) supports the Audit & Assurance practice by ensuring professionals who serve the audit practice have the appropriate knowledge, skills, and capabilities to consistently deliver high quality audits. The function plays a critical role in supporting audit quality, regulatory compliance, professional standards, and the firm’s public interest responsibilities through effective learning design, delivery, and governance. The KPMG Business School also facilitates various firm level training to all functions and thus works closely with other functional groups at KPMG as well as service groups to create a collaborated service.
We are currently seeking a Senior Director, Learning & Development (Audit) to provide strategic and operational leadership for learning and development across professionals serving audit and assurance clients. This role is responsible for overseeing the firm's audit learning strategy, curriculum, and governance framework to ensure alignment with audit quality objectives, regulatory requirements, and business priorities. The successful candidate will champion a culture of continuous learning, professional excellence, integrity, and accountability while enhancing the capabilities of our audit professionals across Canada.
What You Will Do
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Audit Learning function across Canada, supporting capability development, audit quality, and regulatory readiness.
- Lead the implementation of the national Audit Learning Strategy, ensuring learning priorities, curricula, and development pathways are aligned with audit quality objectives, professional standards, regulatory expectations, and the evolving needs of the Audit practice.
- Oversee the Audit Learning organization including Learning Strategy & Technical Content and Learning Operations & Delivery, ensuring effective governance, execution, and continuous enhancement of learning programs.
- Oversee the design, governance, delivery, and effectiveness of mandatory, technical, and developmental learning programs that directly support audit quality, professional competence, and compliance requirements.
- Manage annual learning investments and drive the successful execution of national learning initiatives.
- Drive operational excellence by implementing innovative, technology-enabled learning solutions, utilizing data-driven insights, automation, and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance service delivery and learner outcomes.
- Identify and lead transformational initiatives that improve scalability, governance effectiveness,
operational efficiency, and the overall learner experience across the Audit practice.
- Foster a strong culture of audit quality, ethics, independence, objectivity, and due professional care by setting the tone through learning strategies, programs, and communications that reinforce the firm's public interest responsibilities.
- Collaborate with senior Audit, Risk, Regulatory, and Learning leaders to ensure learning programs remain responsive to emerging regulatory developments, business priorities, and evolving professional standards.
What You Bring To The Role
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Learning & Development, Audit, Professional Practice, Talent Development, or a related professional services environment, including experience leading large-scale learning strategies and operations.
- A strong commitment to audit quality, ethics, integrity, independence, objectivity, and professional excellence.
- CPA designation (or equivalent qualified designation) preferred. Experience within a public accounting firm, professional services organization, or a regulated industry would be considered a strong asset.
- Proven success developing and implementing enterprise-wide learning strategies that support capability development, regulatory readiness, professional excellence, and business objectives.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing large and complex learning portfolios, including curriculum governance, instructional design, learning operations, faculty management, delivery execution, and learning measurement.
- Experience managing significant operating budgets and optimizing resources to achieve strategic priorities while delivering measurable business outcomes.
- Strong track record leading large-scale transformation initiatives, including the implementation of technology-enabled learning solutions, automation, process improvement, and service delivery modernization.
- Experience leveraging data, analytics, and performance metrics to inform decision-making, measure learning effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influence skills, with experience partnering with senior executives, business leaders, regulatory stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to achieve strategic objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through change, build high-performing teams, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Outstanding communication and executive presence,
with the ability to articulate vision, influence decision-making, and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
KPMG BC Region Pay Range Information The expected base salary range for this position is $141,000 - $235,000 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location, skills, & competencies, and unique qualifications.
