In accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Ontario Human Rights Code, accommodation will be provided throughout the recruitment process upon request, based on any Code-protected ground.Number of Available positions:01 Regular Full Time - This position is located at the Ajax Water Supply Plant in Ajax, OntarioDistrict Supervisor-Plant Operations (Maintenance)Reporting to the Superintendent of Plant Operations, this position is responsible and accountable for the front-line supervision of the operations and maintenance of Water Supply systems in the Region of Durham, ensuring that facility maintenance works are carried out in an environmentally responsible, safe, and cost-effective manner.The incumbent will:- Direct and instruct Chief Maintenance Operators and Maintenance Operators with a skilled trade, developing schedules and adjusting as necessary- Develop and implement contingency plans to deal with emergency breakdowns to prevent or mitigate regulatory noncompliance situations- Review procedures to ensure maintenance work is performed according to applicable regulations, thereby ensuring regulatory compliance- Prepare, monitor, and control the budgets for the area within the purchasing by-laws- Provide appropriate staffing, training, and staff development- Represent Plant Operations (Maintenance) in the design, construction,
and the commissioning of recent and existing facilities; review and provide input into proposals, shop drawings, and contract specifications- Liaise with public, politicians, other internal departments, consultants, and regulatory bodies regarding the maintenance of the plant- Work in accordance with the provisions of applicable health and safety legislation and allcorporate/departmental policies and procedures related to occupational health and safetyThe successful applicant will possess:- A valid Certificate of Qualification - 309A Electrician, 306A Plumber, 433A Millwright, 447A Instrumentation and Control (or diploma in instrumentation and controls or related program)- A Class 2 (or higher) Water Treatment Certification from the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) Water Operator Certification Program- Numerous years of experience providing maintenance to municipal water supply facilities and/or industrial environments- Several years of direct leadership/supervisory experience- Knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Act and associated regulations, and all applicable Environmental Acts and Regulations- Knowledge of computerized operating and maintenance management systems, computer assisted and automated plant operations and various computer operating systems and software applications- Knowledge of Region of Durham policies and procedures, including the Purchasing By-Law is an asset.- A commitment to inclusive dialogue and ensuring diverse voices are heard.- Superior judgment,
decision making and time management abilities as well as problem solving, conceptual and data analysis skills- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills- Supervisory skills including teambuilding, conflict resolution, planning, and organizational skills- A Class G Driver's Licence and the regular use of a reliable vehicleCandidates who do not possess a Class 2 Water Treatment License with Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks (MECP) Operator Certificate Program may also apply; however, preference will be given to applicants with a Class 2 Water Treatment License or higher.Management & Exempt Salary Grade 7- Salary: $116,512 to $145,640 per annumConditions of EmploymentAll applicants are expected to comply with the Region of Durham's Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct Policies throughout the recruitment process.
