Rate of Pay: $23.46 per hour The Cook plays a vital role in supporting The Gathering Place’s commitment to nourishing and caring for over 3,000 Guests through its meal program. As part of a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen setting, this role involves preparing and serving large-volume meals, maintaining sanitation standards, and working collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and guests. Under direction of the Kitchen Supervisor, the ideal candidate demonstrates flexibility, professionalism, and a deep respect for working in a trauma-informed, low-barrier setting serving vulnerable populations.

What You’ll Do
Prepare delicious, high-volume meals that nourish body and soul
Support meal service for breakfast, dinner, and supper with precision and care




Keep the kitchen safe, clean, and organized (you know the drill—FIFO, logs, sanitization)
Support and guide volunteer crews like the kitchen pro you are
Work in a dynamic kitchen serving a vulnerable population with empathy, consistency, and respect

What You Bring
Food Safety Certification or commercial kitchen training
Experience working in a commercial or institutional kitchen
Ability to multitask under pressure
Kindness, professionalism, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
