Senior Front-end Developer

ReelData AI is hiring a Senior Front-end Developer to lead the development of our dashboard used by aquaculture farms to understand fish appetite, weight and welfare.

As a Senior Front-end Developer, you’ll help shape the tools aquaculture operators use every day to monitor fish health, biomass, feeding, and tank performance. You’ll work across product, design, and back-end engineering to turn complex operational data into intuitive, reliable experiences used by customers in production.

What you’ll do

- Lead front-end development for ReelData’s Operations Dashboard, working across biomass, welfare, feeding, tank monitoring, and analytics workflows.
- Translate product requirements, and customer feedback into design concepts and polished, accessible interfaces.
- Build and maintain reusable React and TypeScript components, data visualizations, tables, forms, and interactive workflows.
- Drive the design of the ReelData’s Operations Dashboard to meet usability standards.
- Integrate front-end experiences with GraphQL and REST APIs, partnering closely with back-end engineers on data contracts and performance.
- Improve application performance, including rendering large datasets, optimizing network requests, and reducing unnecessary re-renders.
- Help shape front-end UX, architecture, technical standards, and our approach to managing state, data fetching, and shared components.
- Write and maintain unit, integration, Storybook, and end-to-end tests.
- Participate in code reviews and provide thoughtful technical feedback to teammates.
- Investigate production issues, support releases,



and help improve the reliability of our development and deployment processes.
- Work closely with product, design, customer-facing teams, and engineers across ReelData to deliver meaningful improvements.

What we’re looking for

- Several years of professional experience building and supporting production web applications.
- Strong experience with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Experience owning product design direction and translating functional requirements into user friendly interfaces.
- A track record of owning features from early discovery through design, implementation, testing, release, and iteration.
- Experience building data-heavy interfaces, dashboards, charts, tables, or other complex operational workflows.
- Comfort working with GraphQL, REST APIs, asynchronous data, and client-side state management.
- Strong front-end fundamentals, including accessibility, responsive design, component architecture, and performance optimization.
- A practical approach to technical decisions and the ability to improve an existing codebase incrementally.
- Experience writing meaningful tests and maintaining quality as products evolve.
- Clear written and verbal communication, especially when discussing trade-offs and technical decisions.
- A cooperative mindset,



with an interest in mentoring teammates and raising the quality of engineering practices.
- Comfort working independently in a small, fast-moving team where requirements can change as we learn.

Nice to have

- Experience with Apollo, Redux, Material UI, ApexCharts, or similar front-end libraries.
- Familiarity with Storybook, React Testing Library, Playwright, Vite, Bun, or Biome.
- Experience with Figma or other design tools.
- Experience working across the front-end/back-end boundary with Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, or PostGraphile.
- Experience with AWS, Docker, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, or application observability.
- Experience building interfaces for industrial, IoT, computer vision, video, or other real-time systems.
- Experience working with internationalization, localization, or multi-site products.
- Experience in aquaculture, agriculture, robotics, or another operational technology domain.
- Comfortable using AI powered development tools

Compensation and perks The salary range for this role is $115,000 - $140,000 CAD. ReelData AI also offers group benefits, an RRSP matching program, a health and wellness allowance, and an office equipment allowance.
