Job Summary
The Data DevOps Lead is responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency of the company’s data platform. This role drives automation, operational excellence, and standardized delivery across data pipelines, enabling a high-performing “data supply chain” that supports timely, trusted business decisions.

Responsibilities
Platform Reliability & Data Operations

Own end-to-end operational stability of data pipelines, ingestion frameworks, and platform components.

Lead External Support team to ensure automated Monitoring of failed jobs, piplelines and ensure resolution of data incidents, failures, and SLA breaches proactively

Automation & Operational Efficiency

Drive automation of BAU processes, reducing manual intervention across ingestion, transformation, and delivery

Simplify fragmented tools and workflows into standardized, scalable patterns

Enable repeatable, low-touch operations across data engineering teams

Cost Optimization (FinOps for Data Platform)

Monitor and optimize GCP infrastructure, compute, and storage costs

Identify inefficiencies across data pipelines and workloads

Implement cost control mechanisms, aligning platform usage with business value

CI/CD & Data Pipeline Delivery

Design and implement CI/CD frameworks for:

Data pipelines

Transformation layers (e.g., dbt models)

ML/AI workflows where applicable

Ensure version control, automated testing, and reliable deployments

Enable faster,



consistent delivery with reduced production risk

Standards & Best Practices

Define and enforce data platform standards, frameworks, and reusable components

Establish consistent practices for pipeline design, deployment, and monitoring

Reduce variability across ingestion and processing patterns

Cross-Functional Enablement

Partner with Data Engineering, Data Architecture, and Business/Data Operations teams

Support delivery squads in achieving SLAs, reliability targets, and platform adoption goals

Act as a central enabler for data platform scalability and operational excellence

Qualifications
Education

Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Engineering) or related field of study

Required Skills & Experience

Strong experience in Data Engineering / DevOps / SRE within cloud environments (preferably GCP)

Proven expertise in:

Data pipeline orchestration (Airflow/Composer or equivalent)

CI/CD tools and frameworks

Monitoring and observability tools

Deep understanding of:

Distributed data processing (Spark, BigQuery, etc.)

Data platform architecture and ingestion frameworks

Experience driving automation, cost optimization, and operational maturity

Leadership & Behavioral Expectations

Strong ownership mindset with focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement

Ability to drive standardization across distributed teams

Proactive in identifying risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities

Collaborative leadership across cross-functional data squads

Success Metrics

Reduction in pipeline failures and incident resolution time

Improvement in SLA adherence and data reliability

Reduction in platform costs through optimization initiatives

Increase in automation coverage and operational efficiency

Standardization and adoption of best practices across teams

Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is CAD 181,427.00 - CAD 298,060.00 / year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire and does not reflect future job opportunity.
