The Learning and Outcomes within the Department of Education and Early Childhood Learning is seeking to fill a regular full time Curriculum and Assessment Consultant position (focus on K-12 Social Studies programs).

Duties:
The Curriculum and Assessment Consultant:

provides expertise and project leadership on curriculum implementation and related resources.

collaborates with colleagues to meet department and government priorities related to K-12 Education

represents the department by working with stakeholders and partners on matters that are within the department's mandate

ensures alignment of curricula, assessments and implementation resources

Qualifications:
Essential:

Extensive experience teaching Social Studies at the Kindergarten to Grade 12 level within Manitoba schools and/or other Canadian jurisdictions.

Experience leading Social Studies initiatives in a school, divisional or provincial setting.

Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, collaborate effectively in a team environment, and act with diplomacy and tact.

Robust organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines.

Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving and sound judgment skills.

Effective verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare and present information to a variety of audiences.

Excellent written communication skills with ability to create and edit various documents with a high degree of accuracy.

Knowledge of current educational research and trends in Social Studies and other relevant fields.

Knowledge of interdisciplinary collaboration and the integration of diverse disciplinary and pedagogical perspectives.

Knowledge of Manitoba's Framework for Learning, including Manitoba Global Competencies and their application in classroom teaching and learning.

Desired:

Experience in curriculum development and design of supporting learning resources.

Conditions of Employment:

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Must possess or be eligible for a Manitoba Teacher's Certificate

Must be willing and able to work extended hours, including holidays, evenings and weekends as required

Must have a satisfactory Criminal Record Check

Must be able to travel by ground and air across Manitoba with possible overnight stays, as required
