Overview
BW Gold is a wholly owned subsidiary of Artemis Gold Inc (“Artemis”). Reporting to the Fixed Plant Supervisor’s, Lead Hand is responsible for preventative maintenance. Troubleshoots and makes repairs as required on machinery and equipment throughout the mine site.
Location: Blackwater Mine site
Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On – Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation
Employment Type: Permanent
Responsibilities
Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds’ safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
Ensure that all machinery and equipment are maintained and repaired as necessary so that the mine operates efficiently and that production targets are achieved.
Follow preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
Provide input into planning weekly and annual maintenance.
Ensure preventative maintenance is carried out in a cost-effective manner.
Troubleshoot and repair equipment and machinery as required.
Ensure that all breakdowns are attended to immediately.
Provide input into the development and updating of preventative maintenance systems, spare parts programs, maintenance practices and infrastructure issues.
Work independently and Work in a team environment to a high level of accountability and be able to build strong team relationships.
Ensure that health & safety and environmental policies are strictly adhered to.
Regularly participate in health & safety topics at toolbox meetings.
Ensure JSA’s, SOP, SWP,and Take 5’s are completed and understood to help identify underlying risks and hazards when carrying out all tasks.
May be required to maintain a clean-shaven appearance (i.e. no facial hair) to ensure the safe and effective use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) associated with assigned duties.
Qualifications
Interprovincial Millwright Trade Certification required.
Minimum 2 years of related experience in mining industry at a Lead Hand level or equivalent.
Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation
Comfortable working and living in close quarters with the team
Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift
Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift
Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Comfortable working between Day & nights shift when required.
Good oral and written communications skills.
Good computer skills.
