Position Summary
The Instructional Designer is responsible for assessing, designing, developing and evaluating comprehensive learning solutions that align with organizational goals. They bring together tools, platforms, and content into a form that is easy to use, scalable, and delivers excellent user experience within our learning infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and internal stakeholders to understand learning scope, vision, and content needs
Clearly identify training program targets, user groups, learner characteristics, and skill gaps
Design curriculum and learning paths for various subjects and skills while integrating organizational goals and vision into learning solutions
Conduct regular assessments, surveys, focus groups, and other feedback methods to consistently understand employee learning needs
Build business cases for solution designs and implementation
Learning Design, Development & Delivery
Design and develop learning solutions (digital and blended) and training content, in strong collaboration with the Training Program Manager and stakeholders
Design instructional prototypes, conduct testing, analyze results, and recommend improvements
Develop and recommend learning assessment tools and metrics to measure adoption, progress, and post-training impact
Gather and analyze feedback from training sessions to identify gaps and implement updates
Provide coaching and training to staff on the delivery of learning solutions
Facilitate training sessions as required
Analyze existing learning programs and resources and identify areas for improvement
Provide backup support for Training Facilitators and Training Leads as required
Learning Management System (LMS) Support & Administration
Act as an administrator for the Learning Management System (LMS) including identifying, recommending, and implementing enhancements to the Training & Development team
Create and manage the digital learning plan to maximize outputs in learning platforms
Liaise with vendors and manage relationships with third-party providers supporting learning initiatives
Prepare and distribute LMS training updates, outcomes reports, and trend analyses
Maintain up-to-date training materials, handbooks, and user guides
Keep current with educational technology trends and best practices
Act as business unit leader for company ERP implementation, including testing,
course creation, and collaboration with the implementation team
Responsible for ongoing LMS maintenance and support
Project Management & Client Relationships
Effectively manage training projects, timelines, and prioritization based on standards of work
Participate in departmental or corporate projects where appropriate
Administrative/Other
Maintain training materials, handbooks, and user guides
Conduct research into learning and development issues, trends, and products
Support general administrative tasks related to training operations
Qualifications:
3 years experience using Learning Management Systems
3-5 years skilled experience developing learning content across multiple platforms (including mobile); experience with gamification and micro-learning is an asset
Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Instructional Design, Education, or related field
Certification in Instructional Design
Certification in Adult Learning Principles
Certified Training and Development professional or equivalent is an asset
Proficient planner, problem solver
Experience successfully deploying and sustaining learning projects and programs into production
Proficiency in authoring e-Learning software such as Articulate Rise or Storyline or related authoring tools
High level proficiency in using MS Office suite & web-based conference services such as Teams, and similar technologies
Strong group facilitation and presentation skills at all levels
Video editing skills
Bilingual (French/English) written and verbal is an asset
