The main purpose of the Junior Policy Analyst is to provide research, analysis, written briefing materials, and recommendations to support the projects and initiatives of the Executive Council Office, primarily through contributions to the Intergovernmental Affairs Secretariat and the Premier’s Youth Council. The Junior Policy Analyst will be required to engage with provincial government departments and internal or external agencies in support of this work. The incumbent will provide support on a wide range of duties, including but not limited to, policy development, project development, timeline monitoring, and execution.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
Coordinate administration (i.e. agendas, presentations, etc.) of Premier’s Youth Council
Engage proactively and collaboratively with Council members to set agendas, support decision-making, and ensure engagement.
Collect data internally and externally and conduct research related to projects and initiatives of the Council.
Analyze research and information gathered to develop options and quality recommendations, content, and deliverables for review and approval by senior staff or Council members.
Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative information for the purpose of project development, policy development and implementation.
Research,
prepare and present well‑written and informed briefing materials on a wide range of subjects for senior leadership.
Keep informed of relevant current events and prepare written briefs, including analysis on their impacts locally.
Work with intergovernmental tables provincially, territorially, federally and internationally to advance provincial and shared priorities.
Provide project management support.
Provide key support, research and recommendations on policy work and strategies to senior staff or policy leads.
Engage with other provincial departments or agencies to collection information for the development of briefing material to be used in intergovernmental meetings.
Organize meetings with government and non-government participants.
Attend meetings and prepare minutes if required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Successful completion of a post‑secondary program, such as a Bachelor of Business Administration, Public Policy, Political Science, Research Methods, Public Administration, or related discipline.
Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered
Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Experience in intergovernmental forums and Federal, Provincial, Territorial tables
Robust knowledge of the workings of all levels of government
Proven critical thinking and writing skills within an intergovernmental affairs environment
Experience in international relations and government‑to‑government relations
Experience in meeting tight timelines.
Experience in identifying, retrieving, analyzing, evaluating and synthesizing evidence from reports and documents.
Experience in facilitating and presenting information in a clear, concise and accurate manner through effective written, oral and visual communication.
Strong interpersonal and intercultural communications skills with the ability to foster collaboration and partnerships.
