Reporting to the Manager, Automation, the Specialist, AI & Automation is responsible for designing, building, and supporting intelligent automation solutions that improve business processes and enhance team member experiences across Porter.
Working from prioritized business opportunities, this role evaluates technologies, develops solutions, and implements automation capabilities using a combination of artificial intelligence, automation platforms, integrations, data, and emerging technologies. The role requires a hands-on builder mindset, strong technical curiosity, and the ability to rapidly translate concepts into working solutions.
Success in this role comes from combining technology, data, and creativity to solve business problems in new ways, while continuously exploring emerging tools and approaches that can deliver measurable value to the organization.
Duties & Responsibilities Design and Build Solutions
Design, configure, and implement automation and AI solutions that address business needs
Develop intelligent workflows using a combination of low-code, no-code, and code-based technologies
Build integrations between enterprise systems, applications, and data sources
Collaborate with data and technology teams to ensure solutions are built on reliable and governed data foundations
Support the development of data-driven workflows, insights, and decision-support capabilities
Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions
Prototype and Experiment
Rapidly develop proofs of concept and prototypes to validate new technologies and approaches
Evaluate emerging AI, automation, and productivity tools to determine applicability within Porter
Recommend implementation approaches based on technical feasibility, scalability, and business value




Continuously improve solutions through experimentation and iterative development
Operate and Enhance
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize deployed automation solutions
Maintain solution documentation, configuration standards, and technical assets
Identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and user experience
Support the adoption of new capabilities through testing and knowledge transfer
Actively participate in Porter's Safety Management System (SMS) by identifying and reporting workplace hazards and promoting a safe work environment.

Qualifications University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business Technology Management, Data Analytics,



or a related discipline
1-3 years of experience in technology delivery, automation, software development, data analytics, or related fields
Relevant co-op, internship, academic, personal, or open-source project experience will be considered
Strong aptitude for learning and applying recent technologies
Understanding of automation, AI, system integration, and digital workflow concepts
Familiarity with APIs, data structures, and modern business applications
Experience working with data, including data analysis, transformation, or integration activities
Exposure to low-code platforms, scripting, cloud technologies, or AI tools is considered an asset
Experience using AI-assisted development and productivity tools is considered an asset
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Curiosity and willingness to experiment with emerging technologies
Ability to independently research, evaluate, and implement solutions
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Commitment to delivering high-quality, supportable solutions
