Description
Senior Piping Checkers are responsible for checking the technical requirements of the detailed drafting design of piping systems associated with plant piping, process modules and equipment layout including 3D models and 2D drawings and providing feedback and technical guidance to the design team. This position interfaces with the respective drafting coordinator or technical lead as well as the respective project engineer and provides progress updates to the respective design manager. Senior Piping Checkers complete advanced, complex, and confidential tasks requiring a strong understanding of engineering principles and a high standard of designing and drafting skill.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conducts detailed checking and reporting of piping drawings such as field drawings, spools, and assembly components
Checks layouts and isometrics
Collaborate with Piping Designers and Drafters, Engineering disciplines, and Fabrication staff
Provides weekly progress and status reports
Assists with standards development
Prerequisites
Education
Diploma in Engineering Design Drafting Technology (EDDT) or recognized equivalent in piping design
Experience
12 years minimum piping design experience
5 years minimum checking experience
Fabrication shop drafting and checking experience
Proficiency in AutoCAD / Navisworks 2020 and higher
5 years minimum experience within 3D environments
Other
Solid knowledge of the ASME code (latest edition) for checking piping designs
Solid understanding of design and drafting practices of piping components for process piping, structural, and equipment
Skills in Microsoft Excel

Physical Requirements
Requires ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods using a computer,
reading manuals, etc…
Manual dexterity for data input, paperwork and use of standard office equipment and software
Wears company-standard PPE when entering fabrication shops or visiting project sites. Project site PPE includes CSA approved steel toed boots and long pants
Involves walking on uneven ground in yards and at project sites
