Taylor View Towers is a vibrant seniors’ living community innorth-central Red Deer, serving over 300 residents through a person-directedcare model rooted in the Eden Alternative philosophy. Key Responsibility Areas(% Range of Focus):

Specializing in programming and responsiblefor planning and organizing, alongside the guidance of the RecreationTherapist.

Overseeing recreationalactivities and events within a community, organization, or facility. Therole involves designing a variety of engaging programs tailored todifferent age groups, interests, and abilities, ensuring they are bothenjoyable and accessible.

Plan and prepare monthlycalendar, marketing and yearly schedule for events (shared with applicableof care partner) for planning purposes e.g. hospitality services

Assist in the planning of menus for special occasions or themes.

Monitors, orders and reports inventoryof recreational supplies as per budget i.e.: crafts, bingo etc.

Preparemonthly recreation reports as required.

Write,edit and publish the monthly newsletter and calendar of events as required.

Manages programs and ensures thatRecreation Aides have the necessary equipment to execute them.

Summary Statement
The Recreation Coordinatorwill assist in recreation programming at Taylor View Towers that promotes independenceand variety for the residents.

Relationships





Reports to: RecreationTherapist Supervisor

Internal Contacts:Residents, Family Members, Employee Care Partners

External Contacts: Vendors

Recreation Programming: 30%-40%
Resident Support: 30%-40%

Keepingthe Resident’s preference and needs at the center of all decision conversationsand actions, and that they are accurately captured in their care plan.

Reportsnecessary changes regarding the Resident Care/Service Plan as per request ofthe Resident as it relates to recreational services.

Collaboratingwith the care partner team to create a community where residents are safe,respected and comfortable.

Understandingthe domains of well-being and working with the team to bring them to dailylife.

Administrative: 20%-30%
Training and Support: 5%

Demonstratesdelegated services to care partners as per accepted practice standards

Under the guidance of the Recreation Therapists and inaccordance with the preferences of the residents and our well-being strategies (communitypolicy and procedure), local, provincial, and federal regulations.

Actively participating in community learning circles, meetings,and events.

Ensure care partners have required knowledge and resourcesto lead activities if required.

Participate in ongoing educational programs.

Health & Safety: 10%-15%

Followsand enforces the Emergency Management Plan, Infection Control protocol, WHMIS,and Health & Safety Wellness Strategies.

Auditsand identifies any health, safety, or maintenance issues,



and reports/documentsas required.

Projects and Assignments

Performsa variety of other projects and assignments as required

Education

Grade 12 Diploma or recognizedequivalent is required

A certificate or diploma in recreation is required, or a minimum of five years of experience in a similar role.

Experience

Experience training in coordinating recreation programs andservices. 1 year minimum.

Ability to effectively deal with difficult and/or crisis situations.

Demonstratesan awareness/knowledge of the importance of health and safety; accident andinjury prevention; and adheres to safe work practices and procedures.

Working Conditions

Theability to move freely about, lift, or push up to 50 lbs., and frequent stooping,kneeling, reaching, bending, and standing.

Work instressful and potentially emotionally charged situations.

Job Status-
This is a temporary part-time position for approximately four (4) months, with the possibility of becoming a permanent part time position.

This position is expected to demonstrate commitment toTaylor View Towers Values.
