Course Description: Building Science 1 is the first of four Master of Architecture Building Science Core Courses. In this introductory course, students are exposed to topics from Building Materials, Detailing, Site Engineering, Structures, and Building Science. These subject matters are studied in the broad context of how ecology, culture, and technology is interlinked with Architectural Thinking and Design.

The applicant will assist a primary Building Science course instructor who as developed the course assignments and curriculum.

Estimate of course enrollment: 150

Class Schedule: Wednesdays, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026

Salary: $9,997.47 (Sessional Lecturer I)

$10,699.21 (Sessional Lecturer I Long Term)

$10,699.21 (Sessional Lecturer II)

$10,953.96 (Sessional Lecturer II Long Term)

$10,953.96 (Sessional Lecturer III)

$11,228.90 (Sessional Lecturer III Long Term)

(Salary inclusive of 4% or 6% vacation pay, where applicable)

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of contemporary architectural pedagogy and the current state of the discipline, at both practical and theoretical levels, is highly desirable.

Duties: Attending meetings required by studio coordinator; Preparation and delivery of course material; managing digital teaching materials, supervision of teaching assistants; preparation and delivery of assignments, tests,



final examinations and deferred final examinations; marking of student work, submission of grades, dealing with student enquiries, appeals and petitions and student contact hours.
