Join Xyólheméylh as a Family Cultural Connections Worker in Abbotsford, BC, where your passion for Indigenous culture enhances the lives of children and families. Engage closely with the community to create meaningful cultural connections and child safety plans.
In this one-year term role, you will leverage your cultural knowledge while facilitating meetings that promote child and family well-being. You will work collaboratively with families, agency staff, and community representatives to develop tailored plans for Indigenous children in care. Your robust communication and mediation skills will help bridge gaps and foster supportive environments that honor cultural and traditional practices.
Key Responsibilities:
• Facilitate family planning and cultural connection meetings
• Develop comprehensive family safety and permanency plans
• Organize Connections circles for emotional support
• Assess and review family plan effectiveness regularly
• Create genograms to visualize family connections
Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
• Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and their historical impacts
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to practice trauma-informed frameworks
• Valid BC Driver’s License and clear Criminal Record Check
