Job Description
Senior Event Sales & Services Manager
At Fairmont Vancouver Airport, our engaging service and delicious cuisine make every special event a truly memorable affair, both within our distinctive surroundings and off-site. Be an ambassador for our exceptional offerings as Senior Event Sales & Services Manager, where you will liaise between multiple departments to meet the needs – and exceed the expectations – of your clients.
What You Will Be Doing
Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
Work with Director, Sales & Marketing to oversee day to day sales and events leadership and associated tasks such as Month End, Payroll, Reporting, and Forecast/Budget
Conduct Sales calls, site inspections, client entertainment and FAM tours and client interactions while meeting quarterly goals
Prospect, qualify, and actively solicit business through sales calls, networking events, industry functions and client meetings
Negotiate guestroom blocks, meeting space, food and beverage minimums, and contractual terms to maximize hotel profitability while meeting client needs and selling the hotel as the best fit for the business
Prepare and present proposal, contracts, and presentations for prospective clients and groups.
Field inquiry calls for small group and catering/events business, executing the discovery process to uncover client needs and selling the hotel as the best fit for the business.
Compile and distribute conference agendas and event orders
Attend Group resumes, BEO meetings, Credit Meetings, as required.
Ensure the efficiency of Opera to track, solicit, book, produce EO’s and follow up on account activities
Ensure all contractual terms agreed upon are carried out as well as to maximize rooms and function space for the highest profitability for the hotel
Maintain a variety of accounts to include social, corporate, and sport
Develop monthly action plans to meet and exceed department and market segment quotas; within established parameters, quote and negotiated prices, confirmed by written contracts.
Build relationships between Sales and Operating Departments
Build partnership with Banquet team to ensure service standards are maintained
Assist in developing new business ideas and the promotion of existing business within all our market segments
Resolve guest complaints when necessary
Conduct post-conference meetings with departing groups (as applicable) to address strengths and weaknesses of an event while soliciting repeat business.
Assist the Director, Sales & Marketing in leading, coaching and developing team members
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a hotel Sales Manager or Conference/Event Services Manager in a four-star hotel.
Past leadership experience an asset.
Strong Food & Beverage knowledge
Knowledge of Opera, Word, Excel, CVENT an asset
Excellent interpersonal and communication (written & verbal) skills
Ability to prioritize work in an environment with multiple interests
Professional appearance and demeanor
Assertive, self-starter, self-motivator in a busy environment with minimum supervision
Your Team And Working Environment
Adapts to change with ease and is able to handle many tasks simultaneously
Must be flexible with work hours to correspond with Department, guests & business demands.
Performs any and all other tasks which are assigned by management
Seamlessly execute planning stage with client and assist with creating and distribution of Banquet Event Orders to encompass culinary, banquet and AV requirements
