Position Scope:
Working under moderate supervision, the HR Generalist will provide support in the functional areas of human resources including health and safety, talent acquisition, payroll, benefits, employee relations, performance management, compensation and associate development. This position will assist with human resources project related work as required

Responsibilities:
General HR

Provide effective associate communications through a variety of methods, such as bulletin board notices, posters, newsletters, PowerPoint and videos

Foster an environment where associates are encouraged to come forward with ideas

Promote organizational diversity, equity, inclusion and respect to enhance and grow our business by leveraging unique strengths and differences

Prepare, maintain, update and file all employment related documentation

Prepare and/or update job summaries for new and existing positions

Administers all HR related Workday business processes; Provide Workday system assistance to managers and associates

Manage all HR systems to ensure data integrity, provides management with proper reporting (i.e. month end) to support business objectives and strategic initiatives, time and attendance management and policy development

Coordinate and support HR-led events, engagement initiatives and recognition programs across Canada

Respond to general HR inquiries and employment verifications

Schedule and coordinate appropriate training resources and enrol participants





Maintain training records and process educational reimbursements requests

Maintain organizational charts

Conduct Exit Interviews for voluntary terminations as required

Comply with all legislative requirements to include provincial and federal laws i.e. WCB and ESA

Manage wellness program and initiatives

Talent Acquisition

Manage full-cycle recruitment for DC hourly and temporary positions and Consumer Service positions

Lead the annual Summer Student Program

Draft offer letters, orientation schedules and coordinate onboarding activities

Prepare interview guides, conduct reference checks and administer background checks

Manage all administrative activities supporting new hires including the onboarding process, orientations and associated materials, and data entry in HR systems (Workday/Smart Recruiters) coordinate onboarding of recent associates and execute onboarding activities

Health and Safety

Member of the JHSC and maintain records to meet legislative compliance

Maintain the EH&S; accident and reporting system. Participate as an EHS lead for Canada

Update EH&S; portal with relevant information

Maintain a compliance calendar and ensure all policies are reviewed accordingly





Liaise with applicable counterparts to prepare for Health & Safety compliance audits; coordinate activities associated with the closing of any/all findings

Employee Relations

Lead and manage employee relations matters including workplace investigations

Partner with managers to address performance management issues, including coaching, documentation and progressive discipline

Provide guidance and coaching to leaders on employee relations best practices, conflict resolution, and risk mitigation

Payroll and Benefits

Responsible for processing payroll and benefits administration

Prepare documentation to initiate short- and long-term disability process

Liaison between the associate and providers i.e. Group health/dental and RRSP

Coordinate annual associate Computer Purchase Program

Prepare and submit Records of Employment

Required Skills and Knowledge:

Must have the aptitude and ability to learn additional computer applications as required

Knowledge of Workday and Kronos is an asset

Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality & professionalism

Exceptional oral and written communication skills

Proven ability to organize, prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment with constant interruptions

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree with a post grad in HR preferred

2- 3 years of experience in Human Resources is required. Payroll experience is an asset

Highly proficient in Microsoft applications, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint
