The laboratory technologist provides support and assistance for staff and students by ensuring labs are prepared for staff and ready for quality student learning. Duties will include all aspects of lab set up, specimen acquisition and preparation and lab take down. Duties may also include installation, setup, as well as calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting and arranging for repair of lab equipment. The successful applicant will recommend the purchase of capital, materials, and supplies, maintain inventories and required documentation, keep informed of changes in laboratory practices, material and equipment. The laboratory technologist will be aware of workplace hazards and participate in establishing and enforcing protected work practices in the laboratory.



Some travel may be required.

1. Provide support and assistance for staff and students by ensuring labs are prepared for staff and ready for quality student learning

2. Prepare all aspects of lab set up, specimen acquisition and preparation and lab take down.

3. Perform installation, setup, as well as calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting and arranging for repair of lab equipment.

4. Performs radiology duties and radiology lab set-up where required.

5. Recommend the purchase of capital, materials, and supplies, maintain inventories and required documentation, keep informed of changes in laboratory practices, material and equipment.

6. Recognize workplace hazards, participate in establishing safe work practices in the laboratory and oversee all individuals in the laboratory to ensure compliance.

7. Oversee students and future applicants in classroom, clinical, labs, tours, etc.

8. Travel may be required.
