Duties And Responsibilities
The Library Technician II will perform library and administrative work related to the daily operation of College of the North Atlantic's Carbonear Library Learning Commons:

Oversee the daily operations of a sole charge library.

Assist patrons with library services, including locating print and electronic resources and using public computers for basic applications (e.g., MS Word, internet).

Perform circulation duties such as checking materials in and out, registering and renewing patron accounts, and shelving items.

Maintain the library collection by weeding materials and ensuring proper shelving.

Coordinate interlibrary and intercampus loans.

Provide reference and basic research assistance to students and members of the public.

Manage circulation system procedures to ensure accurate patron registration and records.

Conduct library orientations for students and the public.

Order and manage periodical subscriptions.

Perform general office duties, including handling mail, preparing correspondence, and ordering supplies and materials.

Perform other related duties, as required, to support the effective operation of the campus library.

Screening Criteria

Completion of a post-secondary Diploma program in Library Studies ( equivalencies to be considered) .

Recent, relevant experience providing library services.

Assessment Criteria

Knowledge of library-related operations.

Knowledge of computer applications and Library-related software ( asset ).

Ability to deliver exceptional client service.

Ability to effectively exchange information.

Ability to manage time and tasks.

Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Professionalism.

Interpersonal skills.

Conditions of Offer

When requested by the Employer, a recent and satisfactory Certificate of Conduct must be provided.

Verification of credentials and applicable licenses,



certifications, and/or professional memberships as required for the position.

Conditions of Acceptance
Occasional physical effort is required, including bending, kneeling, stretching, and working in awkward or confined positions when shelving and organizing materials. The Library Technician I is regularly required to lift and move library materials, including boxes of books, up to 10 lbs on a constant basis and 10-25 lbs on a frequent basis.
