Black Diamond Group’s Tax department has a full time position for Senior Tax Analyst – Canada.
This role is hybrid - in-office with 20% flexibility to work from home.
Reporting to the General Manager, Tax, this role will partner with other teams across Canada to contribute to strategic business initiatives and play a primary role in supporting Canadian income tax compliance, external financial reporting, and process improvements.
This role will have the opportunity to be involved in a broad range of Canadian income tax matters and will become a key member of the Company’s tax function, enabling them to make meaningful contributions to the business and overall success of the tax function.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of annual Canadian income tax filings and related remittances
- Assist with the preparation of the monthly, quarterly and year-end tax provisions including working with the financial reporting team to update financial statement and MD&A; disclosures as required
- Maintain tax attribute calculations including adjusted cost bases, safe income and surplus pools
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations for Canadian income tax accounts
- Assist with the preparation of responses to federal and provincial income tax audits, including gathering information, addressing incoming correspondence and drafting responses to audit queries
- Liaise with third party tax advisors in relation to the above-mentioned duties and responsibilities
- Identify process automation opportunities and implement technology solutions. Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work process
- Over time and if desired, this role could also have an opportunity to work closely with the General Manager,
Tax gaining exposure to cross-border tax matters such as transfer pricing; structuring matters such as internal reorganizations; and/or mergers and acquisitions activity such helping with tax due diligence workflows and proposing structure and finance plans for the acquisition
- Other ad-hoc research and analysis as required
Qualifications
- 5-years relevant tax-related experience
- CPA designation is preferred.
- Experience in SAP Business One, Oracle Netsuite and/or TaxPrep is considered an asset
- Robust computer and data analysis skills including intermediate Excel skills (using pivot tables, basic charts/formula)
- High attention to detail and strong commitment to ensure deadlines are met
- Strong analytical skills and takes initiative to solve problems
- Ability to work independently while supporting the larger finance and accounting team
- Works well under pressure with multiple concurrent deadlines
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of professional interaction with various levels of operations and external business partners
