Job Description:
As a Payroll Tax Specialist , you will play an important role in supporting the accurate and compliant administration of payroll tax and statutory requirements across Canada. You'll have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that combines technical expertise, regulatory compliance, and process improvement while partnering with teams across Payroll, Human Resources, Finance, Technology, and external agencies.

Team responsibilities include:

Balancing of all year-end tax slips and completion of year-end government filings in compliance with CRA, Revenu Quebec and IRS regulations

Distribution of T4, RL1, T4A, RL2, NR4, RCA, 1042-S, 1099-R government tax slips and the T2200 and TP64-3 forms

Reconciliation and maintenance of regulatory compliance across Canadian and US jurisdictions

Support of all expatriates and globally mobile employee payroll activities

Participation in both internal and external audits

Customized payroll and year-end tax slip support for the CEO and Senior Executive Team

Managing end to end Board of Directors' payrolls

Identifying, reviewing, and preparing POIs for the Group 1-8 retirees

Reviewing and correcting taxes from the Retiree Demographic report and the US Tax Data Query

Respond to employee enquiries through Helpdesk cases

Specific Accountabilities:

Ensuring the integrity of the Workday data through balancing tax slip boxes after each pay cycle, including weekly, biweekly, semimonthly, monthly and quarterly

Preparation of manual tax slips, including 102 Regulation requirements for cross-boarder commuters from the US

Preparation of amended tax slips, including the submission to government agencies

Support with all payroll accounting year-end payroll data to ensure they are recorded and processed accurately

Assist in the creation and implementation of new pay components, including testing and validation in test and production environments.

Administration Board of Director's quarterly fees, RSU payments

Action variance and exemption reports to correct all data integrity errors to ensure the accuracy of the year-end tax slips

Process of POI (retirees) Group 1-8 balancing and uploads

Preform processes and functions for expatriate payroll

Support the processing of shadow payrolls

Provide accurate and timely resolutions to inquiries from our internal and external business partners

Review and validate the accuracy of our annual PIER reports from CRA and RQ

Process, specific payments both manual off cycles and using WD EIB templates

Process cheque reversals and other yearend adjustments resulting from data integrity

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve payroll discrepancies and improve operational efficiencies

Cross train and job shadow with YE Team to increase knowledge and support during critical periods throughout the year

Provide payroll data information to various business partners

Participate in ad hoc requests and or projects

Qualifications:

Payroll Compliance Practitioner Designation, (or working on completion) PCP

Robust knowledge of Canadian Federal/Provincial and U.S. regulatory and legislative requirements related to payroll (Canada Revenue Agency/ Revenu Quebec/IRS)

A sound knowledge of Workday, as well as the principals of Resolution Management, and the principals of the Data Integrity Reconciliation

Strong excel skills

Strong communication skills

Strong analytical skills
