GENERAL FUNCTION The Production Supervisor oversees daily operations within an assigned production area and leads employees to achieve production, quality, safety, service, and efficiency objectives. The role manages workflow, staffing, training, performance, equipment/process readiness, and issue resolution while ensuring compliance with work instructions, quality standards, safety requirements, and company procedures. The Supervisor may support Surfacing, Edging, Coating, or other production areas based on business needs.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise daily production operations to achieve service, productivity, quality, efficiency and safety targets.
- Plan and manage workflow, staffing, schedules, resources, and production priorities based on operational needs.
- Monitor productivity, quality, yield, and process performance; resolve issues and escalate significant risks as required.
- Ensure employees follow work instructions, quality standards, safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies.
- Maintain regular floor presence to provide direction, monitor operations, and address emerging production or employee issues.
- Lead, coach, train, and develop employees; provide ongoing feedback, complete performance evaluations, and address performance or conduct concerns.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, and employee training; ensure required competencies are maintained.
- Manage employee schedules, attendance, vacation, time records, and timesheet approvals.
- Investigate production, quality, safety, equipment, and process issues; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, quality, yield, cost, workflow, and operational effectiveness.
- Monitor equipment and process performance and coordinate maintenance, calibration, cleaning, and required follow-up.
- Support ISO 13485 and applicable quality, regulatory, safety, internal, and external audit requirements.
- Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, EHS, HR, and other functions to resolve operational and people-related matters.
- Maintain required production records, reports, and system transactions, and manage labor, overtime, supplies, consumables, and departmental costs within assigned responsibilities.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- College diploma/certificate in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Experience in manufacturing, production, or laboratory operations.
- Previous team leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong coaching, communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of production, quality, and safety requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production/reporting systems.
- Ability to work in a rapid-paced environment and flexible shifts as required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in optical laboratory or lens manufacturing operations, with knowledge of Surfacing, Edging, Coating, or related production processes.
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, root-cause analysis, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience working within ISO 13485 or another regulated quality environment.
PHYSICAL/ WORKING CONDITIONS
- Regularly works in a production environment, requiring frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout production areas.
- May occasionally bend, reach, climb stairs, or handle materials/equipment and may be exposed to noise, moving equipment, and other manufacturing conditions requiring appropriate PPE.
#TRTN Pay Range: $56,756.80 – $70,946.00
