Role: Procurement Engineer
Location: Kincardine or Pickering
Duration: 1 year to start
Pay: Up to $120/hr based on relevant skills and years of experience
Overview
Our client is seeing an experienced Procurement Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the nuclear industry and current security clearance. This role is for a strategic, results oriented person who is focused on problem-solving and building networks. customer oriented, leads change, is flexible, and Innovative.

Key Responsibilities
Under minimal supervision, you will support the strategic sourcing and acquisition of all technical materials, components, equipment and services necessary for complex engineering and design projects bridging the disciplines of engineering and the supply chain. This requires collaboration with design engineers, project managers, and vendors to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role combines engineering knowledge with a strategic procurement mindset to evaluate and qualify all technical materials and services required for sourcing and manufacturing.

Work with design engineers during the product development and design phases to define technical specifications and requirements for materials, components, and manufacturability.

Review and interpret engineering drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs) and other technical documents to align with procurement needs, providing technical guidance to internal teams on material selection, manufacturing processes and supplier capabilities.

Lead the technical evaluation and qualification of recent suppliers, including on-site assessments of production capability, quality systems, and risk profile.

Resolve technical issues with suppliers during development and manufacturing, ensuring their processes can consistently meet our technical and quality specifications of the components.

Coordinate and execute strategic sourcing plans for all critical components,



including make-or-buy analyses for complex or custom-fabricated components.

Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical sourcing practices.

Conduct research to identify suppliers and manufacturing partners to develop supplier panels that support the company's long-term vision for manufacturing.

Assesse and mitigates supply chain risks associated with a new product, including single-source dependencies, intellectual property concerns, and geopolitical instability.

Mentor lower-level Procurement Engineers.

Perform supplier assessments and risk reviews to obtain high-quality supply chain performance.

May mentor lower-level Procurement Engineers

Required Education and Experience

Minimum of 10 years of related technical procurement and/or supply chain experience is required combined with a degree in science or technology.

Required Skills

Expert knowledge to interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications and BOMs.

Must be familiar to relevant quality control standards and nuclear industry regulations.

Ability to effectively manage team priorities and maintain strong supplier relationships.

Experience working with procurement software or systems (e.g., Microsoft Project, Enterprise Resource Planning).

Excellent communication skills to work effectively with all levels of staff and management, vendors and customers.

Good problem identification and problem resolution skills.

Excellent report development and presentation skills.

Experience with material machining, forming, welding, GD&T;, and nuclear quality standards is a plus.
