Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist supports daily HR operations in a fast-paced, field-based environment, with a strong focus on FMLA/leave administration , employee training and development, and HR records management. This role partners with leaders to ensure compliance, support employees, and strengthen workforce capability, including adherence to California employment and personnel file regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as an HR partner to employees and supervisors, providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, and policy application.
Administer FMLA , ADA , workers' compensation, and other leave programs, ensuring compliance and effective case management.
Manage the full leave process, including eligibility, documentation, tracking, and return-to-work coordination.
Coordinate and support training programs, including onboarding, compliance training, and leadership development.
Partner with leaders to identify training needs and track completion.
Maintain accurate employee files and HR records, ensuring proper filing, confidentiality, and compliance with federal and California personnel file requirements (including retention, access, and document separation standards).
Ensure personnel files are audit-ready and support timely responses to employee file access requests.
Support recruitment and onboarding for hourly and skilled roles.
Maintain HRIS data integrity; assist with payroll and perks administration.
Generate HR reports and support retention and workforce planning initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3-5+ years of HR Generalist experience.
Strong knowledge of FMLA , ADA , and California employment law, including personnel file compliance.
Experience managing leave of absence programs and employee accommodations.
Experience coordinating or delivering training programs.
Strong attention to detail, particularly in records management, compliance, and documentation.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Proficiency with HRIS and Microsoft Office .
Preferred
Experience supporting multi-site or field-based operations
HR certification ( PHR or SHRM-CP )
Office and field-based work environment
Occasional travel to support multiple locations
